Solana validator alerts: what to watch and how
Being told when your validator goes offline matters most: you earn nothing while it is, and your wallet doesn't say so. Your SOL stays put; you lose rewards. A commission change (the cut it keeps from your rewards) comes next. Check your validator's page each epoch (about 2 days) or get a free Telegram alert within minutes.
Why would a staker need alerts at all?
Today your SOL stays in your stake account even if your validator goes offline or raises its commission (Solana has no slashing today). What you lose is rewards, quietly: a validator that stops voting earns nothing for you, and one that raises its commission keeps more of every reward. Your wallet shows neither, so you may not notice for weeks.
What is worth watching?
| What | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Offline (delinquent) | No rewards while it lasts. Repeated outages are a pattern worth acting on. |
| Commission change | A raise keeps more of each reward. A spike that drops back within a few epochs is the pattern the rug-pull guide describes. |
| MEV commission change | Its cut of MEV tips (extra income from how transactions are ordered). |
| Rewards each epoch | Confirms the stake is earning, and how much. |
Things people ask for that are less useful than they sound: raw rank changes and tiny uptime moves. A single bad hour isn't a reason to act; see when to wait or move.
Two ways to hear about trouble sooner
- Look yourself. Open your validator's page each epoch. It shows whether it is online now, its 90-day uptime history, its fees, and whether it changed them. Free, but only as often as you remember.
- A Telegram bot. Our bot watches your stake from your public address and messages you within minutes when your validator goes offline (and when it's back), changes its commission or its MEV commission, plus your rewards each epoch. Free; no seed phrase, no wallet connection, no signature. Set up the bot
What the bot won't do, so you don't expect it
It doesn't let you set your own thresholds (for example "tell me below 98% uptime"), and it doesn't track a validator's rank by stake. It tells you when your validator stops voting or changes its fees. The 90-day uptime history on each validator's page covers the longer picture.
How do you set it up?
Open the bot in Telegram, press Start and paste your public wallet address (the one you share to receive SOL). That's all; you get your first report right away. Step by step and FAQ
What should you do when an alert arrives?
- Offline: no rush. Check again after the next epoch; if it's repeated or long, read when to wait or move.
- Commission raised: compare the new rate on the validator's page and with others on the validator list; if you move, here is how.
- Back online: nothing to do.
Questions
Within minutes of your validator stopping voting or changing its commission.
Usually not: an exchange owns the stake account, so there is none under your address to watch.
No: free, public address only, and it can't move or stake anything.
